Molly - Fort Kent, ME
This gorgeous girl is Molly! She is a 7 yr old, 10 lb female spayed domestic short haired cat.
This petite all-grey girl survived several winters out in the bitter cold, living in the woods, having litters of kittens despite the continued efforts of many to trap her and get her the medical treatment and warm shelter she so deserved.
Finally, last winter Molly went into a kind person’s apartment that had been putting food out for her and gave birth to her litter of kittens! At that point, Molly and her 6(!) babies were brought to a loving foster home, where they were able to remain together as Molly nursed her babies and Molly herself was given healthy food, warm and comfortable surroundings, and she no longer had to live in “survival-mode.”
Molly and the human foster mom were a great team, and all of the kittens grew up and developed well, were socialized, spayed/neutered, and then later adopted. Because Molly had lived outside for several years prior to being rescued, she was very timid and untrusting of humans initially. But she has made great progress in her foster home, and after all of her kittens had been adopted, she remained in that foster home as of now. However, due to being pre-diabetic, Molly is on a special diet. The food is about $80 a month. She also requires a medication with which she is pilled twice daily. The pills are not expensive, but as you can imagine, this does require a commitment in terms of being a responsible pet owner.
Because she is not the only cat at her foster home, Molly spends a lot of her time trying to steal the other cat’s food! This is not good for Molly’s health, as she really needs to eat ONLY her prescription diet.
As a result, PAWS is looking for a forever home for Molly where she can continue on with her prescription diet and enjoy a happy and healthy life! Because she is a shy girl, it will take her some time and patience to warm up to a new environment, so once she is in her new forever home, we do not want to have Molly transition again after that time. Molly is between 7-8 years old, has been spayed, and is up-to-date on her immunizations. Perhaps your home would be an ideal match for this quiet little grey girl?
Molly is available for adoption in the New England area. For more information please email: or call 207-543-7348. You can also visit their Facebook page: "PAWS Animal Welfare Society, Inc, Fort Kent" or check out the website: www.ourvalleypaws.org
